Padres Need Extra Innings to Top Giants, 8-5
|
Fans who congregated at AT&T Park were treated to extra-inning drama.
The San Diego Padres knocked off the San Francisco Giants, 8-5, at AT&T Park. It took 10 innings. Gustavo Barron was a prime reason San Diego won. The first baseman went 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. San Diego, now 68-61, holds down third place in the National League West Division.
Joel Clarke drew 1 walk in 5 plate appearances for San Diego. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring walk off Mike Billingsley. It was his 35th walk of the season.
"They had a good approach," San Francisco skipper Michel Alexandre Cauchon said of the opposition. "Hats off to them."
