Diamondbacks Upend Cubs, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Chicago Cubs, Eric Huffman was the X factor. The Arizona right-hander spearheaded the 3-2 win. Huffman, now 9-10, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 10, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. This win makes it 5 in a row for Arizona.
Nate Humphery had a big run-scoring double for the Diamondbacks in the top of the fifth inning. With Arizona leading 2-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a sinker from Sean Price, who is tied for 7th in the NL with a 1.12 WHIP, and swatted a double to right. It was his 24th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Diamondbacks ahead, 3-0.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Chicago manager Vin Calia. "But we decided not to take it."
