Cincinnati Triumphs with Late Surge
The Cincinnati Reds outlasted Grant Goff and the New York Mets, 10-9. Goff was impressive in the loss. The New York first baseman was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3. The first-place Reds go to 80-50.

Tom Hedges came through with a big-time hit for Cincinnati. The left fielder smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 10-8. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Hedges, "but we got it done."
