Giants Earn 4-2 Road Win Over Pittsburgh
|
The San Francisco Giants downed the Pittsburgh Pirates, 4-2. The hitting star was second baseman Ryan McClure. McClure was 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Giants. Kyle Zdun, the winner, improved to 5-5. He held Pittsburgh to 2 runs on 5 hits over 6.1 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. The 4th-place Giants improved to 61-70.
McClure contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for San Francisco in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 1-0, McClure took a changeup from Scott Connell and stroked the home run to left. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Giants to leap in front, 3-1.
"Winning is great," McClure said. "It's always just guys picking each other up -- if not me, then the next guy."
