Red Sox Secure 7-5 Win
|
The Boston Red Sox besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Minnesota first baseman Edwin Hernandez by beating the Twins, 7-5, at Fenway Park. Hernandez was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Eric Huffman, the winner, is now 12-10. He struck out 10 and walked 3 over 7.1 innings, while allowing 5 runs on 5 hits. Scott Duree earned the save for Boston, his 29th of the year.
Early in the game, second baseman Travis Dawley had a 2-run double for Boston. It was his 42nd double of the season and put the Red Sox on top, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the Boston Daily News, Dawley said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
