Dodgers Topple Nationals, 3-2
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Washington Nationals played an entertaining game for Nationals Park patrons.
Starting pitcher Robby Thienes gave the Los Angeles Dodgers a rock-solid effort. The North Falmouth, Massachusetts native helped his team defeat the Washington Nationals, 3-2, at Nationals Park. Thienes, now 9-12, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 4, and allowing no runs.
Justin Ellis had a big run-scoring triple for the Dodgers in the top of the fourth inning. With Los Angeles leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Mike Carr, the 5th overall pick in the 2107 draft, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dodgers ahead, 3-0.
"Tough loss," said Washington manager Doug Graff. "But that's how the chips sometimes fall."
The 4th-place Dodgers sport a record of 63-69.
