Reds Make It 6 in a Row with 7-4 Win
|
The Cincinnati Reds topped the Chicago Cubs, 7-4, with left fielder Jonathan Welch playing a big role. Welch went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Reds in the win. Cincinnati pitcher Neal Kinch got the win. He's now 2-1. Brian Martinko was tagged with the loss. The Reds sit in second place in the National League Central Division with a record of 76-56.
Cincinnati catcher Danny Molina contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the fifth. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 89th hit of the season and put the Reds ahead, 7-3.
"Nervous? No," said Molina. "It was my time to shine."
