New York Scrapes Out 7-4 Win
|
The New York Yankees downed the Houston Astros, 7-4. The hitting star was first baseman Gabriele Monachino. Monachino was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Yankees. Devin Huth earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Getting the save was Zach Rogers, his 28th.
Hugo Vitagliano came through with a big-time hit for New York. The third baseman smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 7-4. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Vitagliano told a New York Times reporter that he was "very happy" with the win.
New York sits in 4th place in the American League East Division at 58-74.
