The Tampa Bay Rays got a sterling performance from third baseman Willie Torres, but the Los Angeles Angels still prevailed, 4-3. Torres hit 2 home runs. The save went to Randy Lamb, his 22nd this season. The Angels raised their record to 34-98.

Justin Manns had an important at-bat with two out in the bottom of the fourth, when he hit a run-scoring double. His 27th double of the season put Los Angeles on top, 4-2.

"There are times you get yourself out and there are times you come through," Manns said. "That's how it goes."
