Pirates Sunk by Giants
|
The San Francisco Giants faced a tough opponent in Pittsburgh pitcher Marcelino Ramires, but did just enough to pull out the victory at PNC Park by a final score of 6-3. Ramires went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Brian McQuain picked up the win with 5 innings of work. He allowed 1 run on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 2-4. The 'W' lifts San Francisco's record to 62-71.
San Francisco used the timely hitting of Matt Roberts to capture the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Giants on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"I think it just wasn't our night," said Pittsburgh skipper Merlyn Evans.
