The New York Mets downed the Atlanta Braves, 7-5, in 10 innings. Jose Cortes led the way, going 1-for-1 for New York. Erik Rice snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-2 on the season. Derrek Romeo suffered the loss. John Rood locked down his 30th save.

Cortes had a game-changing home run in the top of the tenth. On a first pitch cutter from Derrek Romeo, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Mets a 7-5 lead. It was the 10th home run of the year for Cortes.

"There's a lot of passion in our clubhouse," said Cortes. "When we put it together we're a great ball club."

The Mets now own a record of 58-74.
