On Road, Pirates Top Rockies, 7-2
|
A good performance from center fielder Randy Wilson helped the Pittsburgh Pirates defeat the Colorado Rockies, 7-2. Wilson was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Pirates. Ivan Juarez picked up the win, lifting his record to 7-4 on the season. He struck out 3 and walked 0 in 6.1 innings, while yielding 2 runs. Tyler Chargois nailed down his 2nd save.
With the game tied in the top of the fifth inning, Wilson had a clutch at-bat. That's when he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Pirates a 3-2 lead.
"The key is not trying to do too much," said Wilson.
The Pirates raised their record to 64-67.
