Iniguez Hits Two Dingers, Blue Jays Win, 6-2
|
The Toronto Blue Jays dealt the Boston Red Sox a 6-2 loss at Fenway Park. Marcos Iniguez, who finished 5th in the NL in on-base percentage with .393 in 2100, was the star on offense. He went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Toronto pitcher Alvaro Garcia earned the win, hiking his record to 2-1. Eric Huffman suffered the loss. Toronto is first in the American League East Division with a record of 75-59.
With Toronto leading 1-0 in the top of the third, Iniguez batted against Boston pitcher Eric Huffman. Iniguez hit a curveball to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 25th home run of the season put the Blue Jays on top, 4-0.
"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Michael Meagher. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
