Wilson Leads Blue Jays to 8-4 Win Over Giants
|
The Toronto Blue Jays cut down the San Francisco Giants by the score of 8-4, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Matt Wilson. Wilson was 4 for 4 with a home run, 3 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Blue Jays. Toronto, at 78-54, occupies first place in the American League East Division.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Jonathan Thompson to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said Toronto skipper Dan Silva. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
