Toronto Makes It 12 Straight with 5-3 Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Boston Red Sox, 5-3, at Fenway Park. Dennis Desper, in particular, was impressive. He belted 2 home runs. The win gives Toronto a season record of 90-45.
Had Greg Whitaker not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Whitaker hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Blue Jays.
"Winning is contagious," said Whitaker, "and right now we've caught the bug."
