Pirates Topple Braves, 9-0, as Wilson Shines
|
Behind the hitting of Randy Wilson, the Pittsburgh Pirates stopped the Atlanta Braves, 9-0. Wilson went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once for the Pirates. Jo Sealy, the winner, improved to 6-8. He held Atlanta to no runs on 3 hits over 6.1 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. The Pirates improve their record to 66-68 with the win over Atlanta.
With Pittsburgh leading 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Wilson hit a 2-run single off Atlanta hurler Devin Glassman. It was the 11th hit of the season for Wilson and put his team ahead, 5-0.
After the game, Wilson refused to speak to a reporter for the Pittsburgh News. "You've accused me of throwing teammates under the bus," he said. "So, excuse me if I decline to answer your questions."
