Tigers Lose, 3-1, in 13
The Minnesota Twins handed the Detroit Tigers a 3-1 loss in 13 innings at Comerica Park. Bret McBride, who finished 4th in the AL in RBI with 115 last year, was the star on offense. He went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Minnesota pitcher Graig Tait got the win. He's now 4-1. Ryan Cardone was tagged with the loss. Minnesota currently is in 4th place in the American League Central Division at 67-70.

McBride had a game-changing home run in the top of the 13th. On a 1-2 changeup from Mike DeRieux, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Twins a 3-1 lead. It was the 28th home run of the year for McBride.

"It took some blood and sweat, but we got what we were after," said Twins manager Chris Greuling.
