The Baltimore Orioles topped the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 12-9. Leading the way was third baseman Nick Cheney. Cheney went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 4 for the Orioles. Baltimore reliever Tony Aguirre picked up the win, upping his record to 6-1. Tim Berigan was saddled with the loss. Baltimore improves to 77-59 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Cheney hit a sinker from Joe Owens for a 3-run home run. The Orioles, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"It was bedlam at the end," Cheney said.
