Pittsburgh Beats Seattle, 4-3
|
Pittsburgh second baseman Mark Tallman had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Seattle Mariners, 4-3. Bryan Bassett, the winner, goes to 10-5. He allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts over 6 innings. The second-place Pirates go to 73-62.
Tallman contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Pittsburgh in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Tallman took a sinker from J.J. Rasche and stroked the home run to left. His 12th home run of the season allowed the Pirates to leap in front, 3-1.
"I put some good swings on the ball," said Tallman.
