Cubs Drop Brewers, 8-5
|
The Chicago Cubs defeated the Milwaukee Brewers in 14 innings, 8-5, in part because of second baseman Tommy Ash. Ash went 2-5 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Cubs. Scott Andrus got the save, his 3rd in 4 chances. With the win, Chicago upped its record to 83-53.
Chicago used a timely hit from Willie Lopez to get the win. The right fielder stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the 14th inning to put the Cubs ahead, 8-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"Our team found a way to get it done," said Ash.
