The Detroit Tigers beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-4, at Comerica Park. Casey Peterson, who is tied for 5th in the AL with a .545 slugging percentage, starred for Detroit. He went 2-4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Willie Ortiz claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. Had Peterson not come through in the bottom of the seventh, who knows how the game would've ended? But with two down, Peterson hit a run-scoring single. The Tigers took the lead, 5-4, and never looked back.
