Orioles Lose to Braves, 5-2
|
The Atlanta Braves stymied the Baltimore Orioles, 5-2, at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. David Valera had a good day at the plate. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Atlanta. Picking up his 17th save was 28-year old left-handed pitcher Bill Hanley. Atlanta is now 68-69, Baltimore 63-74.
Greg Somers drove in one run for Atlanta. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the second. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Brian Hawkins. It was his 47th RBI of the season.
Valera said his team "played with focus."
