San Francisco Keeps Spiraling Downward
The San Francisco Giants extended their losing streak with a defeat by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Ivan Escalante had a good game, but he could not keep the San Francisco Giants from falling, 11-7, to the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. The San Francisco catcher went 4 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 in the loss. The win went to Angelo Castillo in relief, making him now 1-0. Bryan Townsend took the loss for San Francisco. Alfredo Casiano nailed down the save.

Mike Lowery swatted a 2-run home run for Arizona in the bottom of the sixth. The shortstop went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and batted in 2.

"Losing makes me cranky," said San Francisco manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon. "And right now not even my dog wants to be around me."

The Giants have now dropped 9 straight.
