The rain came, as predicted, but the Minnesota Twins and Boston Red Sox were able to complete their ballgame.

The Minnesota Twins topped the Boston Red Sox, 5-2, in American League action at Fenway Park. The standout performance belonged to Minnesota pitcher and Endicott, New York, native Chris Gurr. The winning pitcher was Gurr, now 8-6. He tossed 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Carlos Mella got the save, his 8th in 12 chances.

The Twins got a big at-bat from right fielder Daniel Pereyra. For the game, Pereyra went 1-4 with a double. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 17th double of the season gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead.

"It was a solid, all-around game for us," said Minnesota manager Chris Greuling.

The triumph puts Minnesota at 78-61 for the season.
