Athletics Come Up Short at Seattle, 5-4
|
The Seattle Mariners had to overcome a big game from Oakland third baseman Justin Dunsmore to leave Safeco Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 5-4. Dunsmore went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Scott Baker. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. He now owns a record of 5-6. The triumph makes Seattle 46-91.
Evan Hendry was 2 for 3 with 2 singles for Seattle. The 26-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Mike O'Donovan. It was his 78th RBI of the season.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Hendry. "You've got to get results."
