Chicago second baseman Joe Reese helped his team beat the Cleveland Guardians, 9-3. Reese, who finished 3rd in the AL in runs with 116 in 2105, went 3 for 5 for the White Sox. Chicago reliever Jayson Redd picked up the win, raising his record to 9-1. Manny Castro was tagged with the loss. The White Sox sit in first place in the American League Central Division with a record of 93-46.

Ben Gibbons went 1-2 with 2 walks for Chicago. The three-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Manny Castro. It was his 113rd RBI of the season.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Bryce Reigns said.
