Tigers Deal Twins 2-1 Defeat
The Detroit Tigers beat the Minnesota Twins, 2-1, at Comerica Park. Starting pitcher Diego Garzon was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Jim Vickery, now 3-7, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Tigers move to 68-70 with the win, while the Twins drop to 73-66.

Detroit took a 2-1 lead on Nick Penix's 10th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Minnesota pitcher Russell Cottrell in the bottom of the seventh.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Penix said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
