Athletics Clip Mariners, 2-1
|
The Oakland Athletics beat the Seattle Mariners, 2-1, at O.co Coliseum. Starting pitcher John Wilson was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Jesus Rivera notched his 28th save of the season. The Athletics saw their win-loss record go to 67-72. At the same time, the Mariners fell to 54-85.
Oakland left fielder Blake Zobel helped the Athletics go up, 2-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Zobel hit a run-scoring single off Seattle pitcher Inayat Ullah Clark.
"Every loss hurts," said Seattle manager Huckleberry O'Day. "But this was a tough one."
