Twins Come Up Short at St. Louis, 8-7
Despite a great performance by Minnesota designated hitter Hsi-chuen Tian, the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Twins by the score of 8-7 at Busch Stadium. Tian was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times. The win belonged to Benny Morgan in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Tom Francis took the loss for Minnesota. St. Louis's record now stands at 71-69, placing them 4th in the National League Central Division.

Chad Gutshall aided the St. Louis cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-3 with a double and a walk.
