Red Sox Come Up Short at Houston, 6-5
The Houston Astros besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Boston third baseman Cameron Goudy by beating the Red Sox, 6-5, at Minute Maid Park. Goudy hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Houston pitcher Johnny Gibson earned the win, hiking his record to 3-3. John Curtis suffered the loss. Houston, at 65-77, sits in 4th place in the American League West Division.

Mario Alvarado had a big bases-clearing double for the Astros in the bottom of the second inning. With Houston leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 26-year old left-handed pitcher John Curtis and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 17th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Astros ahead, 4-0.

"You win some, you lose some. I don't get too caught up in all that," said Alvarado.
