Athletics Deal Mariners 4-3 Defeat
|
Oakland right fielder Ryan Tipton played a vital role in his team's 4-3 triumph over Seattle. He was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk for Oakland. Ray Gehring, the winner, goes to 7-13. He allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Freddy Hernandez earned his 22nd save in 25 chances.
Oakland used the bat of Kyle O'Connor to capture the win. The left fielder jacked a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Athletics ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said O'Connor.
Oakland now sits at 55-87, while Seattle falls to 90-51.
