Braves SP Leese goes 1-4 in Win
|
Atlanta Braves starter Ryan Leese worked his magic, to help his team defeat the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-0. The triumph puts Atlanta at 78-64 for the season.
The Phillies had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Braves going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old second baseman Kenny Akers came to the plate. Akers hit a run-scoring double on a 0-1 fastball from Philadelphia hurler Francisco Quintanilla. It was Akers's 14th double of the year.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Akers said.
