Athletics Toast Guardians, 12-2
|
The Cleveland Guardians took it on the chin, losing, 12-2, to the Oakland Athletics. J.J. McCard, who is tied for 3rd in the AL with a 3.44 ERA, pitched a strong game for Oakland. The Athletics improved their record to 77-66 by beating Cleveland.
Oakland got a big at-bat from Tamalpais-Homestead Valley, California native Josh Nightingale, who in the bottom of the fourth hit a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Athletics ahead, 8-0.
"Not much went right for us," Cleveland manager Danny Jaime said, when asked afterward about the game.
