Yankees Pin 3-1 Loss on Toronto
|
New York Yankees starter Yu-eh Chio turned in a top-notch performance against the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium. The result was a win for the Yankees, 3-1. Ben McKie, now 7-3, was credited with the win in 1.1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. New York currently is in first place in the American League East Division at 79-64.
Nick Rich, who is tied for 8th in the AL in extra base hits with 64, took Toronto hurler Alex Bartolo deep in the bottom of the third. His solo home run put the Yankees on top, 1-0. In all, Rich had 2 singles in addition to the home run, while going 3 for 5.
"My gosh almighty, Yu-eh was tremendous," said New York manager Mike Hanson.
