Braves Score Late, Stun Phillies, 9-2
|
Atlanta starter T.J. Grady kept the Philadelphia hitters in check, while his team cruised to a win, 9-2. Atlanta, at 79-64, holds down second place in the National League East Division.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Nick Sprague came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Philadelphia pitcher Nate Williams, he hit a 0-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Atlanta on top, 3-2.
"T.J. was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Atlanta manager Dan Hoagland.
