Loss to Orioles Extends Cleveland Losing Streak
|
Cleveland designated hitter Bill Widby had a good game, even if his team did not. The Guardians dropped a 7-5 decision to Baltimore at Progressive Field. Widby belted 2 home runs. Baltimore reliever Ben Mills picked up the win, upping his record to 2-3. Matt McDuffy took the loss. Baltimore is 64-79 and Cleveland, with the loss, 54-89.
Baltimore used a well-timed hit by Tyler Den Hartog to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Orioles ahead, 7-5. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We've got to get out of this funk," said Cleveland manager Hugo Gutierrez.
