White Sox Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
U.S. Cellular Field was the site of a remarkable pitchers' duel.
In a well-pitched game between the Chicago White Sox and the Seattle Mariners, pitcher Jon Mendez was superb. The Chicago right-hander helped his team win, 1-0. Chicago is in first place in the American League Central Division with a record of 94-49.
Joe Reese, who is tied for 7th in the AL in total bases with 297, took Seattle hurler Elijah Blackwell deep in the bottom of the second. His solo home run put the White Sox on top, 1-0. In all, Reese had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
"Jon was dynamite," said Chicago manager Bryce Reigns.
