Slumping Guardians Lose Again
|
Minnesota Twins starter Matt Doering pitched a strong game against the Cleveland Guardians at Target Field, leading the Twins to victory, 5-4. Doering picked up the win for Minnesota, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 11-9. The slumping Guardians have lost 7 straight.
The Twins got a big at-bat from right fielder Jason Duren. For the game, Duren went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 13th home run of the season gave Minnesota a 4-0 lead.
"This game is going to humble you at times and you've got to man up and deal with it," said Cleveland manager Mike Nichols.
