Chad Crum pitched a gem to lead Los Angeles to victory over the Oakland Athletics, 3-0. The winning pitcher was Crum, now 9-10. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5. Los Angeles occupies third place in the American League West Division at 72-72.

Chris Ward had a big 2-run home run for the Angels in the bottom of the first inning. With Los Angeles leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher Joey Wright and punished it. The result was his 32nd home run of the season, which put the Angels on top, 3-0.

"I was just trying to execute one pitch at a time," said Crum.
