Giants Curb Mets, 8-2
|
A good performance from catcher Kevin Shaw helped the San Francisco Giants defeat the New York Mets, 8-2. Shaw was 2-3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Giants. San Francisco, now 90-53, holds down first place in the National League West Division.
With San Francisco leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third, Shaw hit a circle change from Luis Torres for a 2-run home run. It was his 20th home run of the season and put the Giants ahead, 4-0.
"Scoring runs is scoring runs," said San Francisco skipper Michel Alexandre Cauchon. "It's important to have different ways to do it."
