Mets Earn Late 3-2 Win
|
The New York Mets did just enough to nip the San Francisco Giants, 3-2, in 10 innings. New York pitcher Seung-mo Kym, in particular, had a standout performance. John Rood snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits over 2 innings. He's now 3-4 on the season. The Mets, at 69-73, sit in 4th place in the National League East Division.
New York used the timely hitting of Matt Teed to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Mets on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It makes it a little nicer in the clubhouse when we win," said Kym. "It eases the tension."
