Guardians Win Squeaker, 3-2, Over Orioles
|
The Cleveland Guardians eked out a 3-2 win versus the Baltimore Orioles at Progressive Field. Nobody did more than pitcher Nick Wise. He was terrific. Joseph Fisher was the winner in relief. His record is now 3-3. The losing pitcher was Matt Olson. The 4th-place Guardians have won 4 in a row.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when right fielder J.J. Kirby, who is tied for 7th in the AL in runs scored with 105, hit a double. The Guardians went on to win.
"I was a little disappointed," said Baltimore manager Art Matlock. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
