St. Louis Defeated by Los Angeles, 4-3
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a sterling performance from pitcher Ray Holmes, but the Los Angeles Angels still prevailed, 4-3. Holmes threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball. Los Angeles reliever Adam Weale picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Jonathan Reddington was saddled with the loss. Tony Sanchez earned the save for Los Angeles, his 35th of the year.
Los Angeles took a 4-3 lead on Gary Dennis's 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Dennis hit in the bottom of the seventh, left St. Louis pitcher Jonathan Reddington visibly frustrated.
Los Angeles manager Matt Moore commended his team for "banging out a nice win."
At 67-77, Los Angeles is in third place in the American League West Division.
