|
The Atlanta Braves topped the Chicago Cubs, 7-6, in National League action at Coca-Cola Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Atlanta pitcher Bill Black. In 6 innings, Black surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Tim Pye got credit for the save for Atlanta. It was his 35th of the year.
The Braves got a big at-bat from right fielder Adam Brading, who in the bottom of the third hit a grand slam home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Braves on top, 7-2.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Brading told the Atlanta Bulletin.
Atlanta has a record of 76-68, placing them first in the National League East Division.
