Mariners Topple Blue Jays with Late Rally
|
The Toronto Blue Jays wasted an impressive 6-inning effort from starter Alex Bartolo, falling, 2-1, to the Seattle Mariners at Rogers Centre. Alex Franco was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 15 of 16 save opportunities. Seattle is now 61-84, while Toronto is 81-64.
Phil Robbins, who finished 4th in the NL in on-base percentage with .394 in 2100, had a direct impact on the outcome. Robbins contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put Seattle up, 2-1.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Robbins told a Seattle Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
