Rangers Nipped by Orioles, 6-5
|
The Baltimore Orioles picked up a win at Globe Life Park in Arlington, topping the Texas Rangers, 6-5. On the mound for Baltimore was left-hander Marco Duran. He played a principal role in the triumph. Baltimore reliever Pete Fordyce picked up the win, upping his record to 7-2. Joe Jafar was saddled with the loss. Tim Huntress earned save number 27 this season.
Baltimore used a well-timed hit by Matt Tennant to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Orioles ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Baltimore manager Art Matlock.
At 78-66, the Orioles are currently second in the American League East Division.
