The New York Yankees defeated the Los Angeles Angels, 4-0, in American League action at Angel Stadium of Anaheim. New York pitcher Josh Morgan had a standout performance. The winning pitcher was Morgan, now 8-9. He tossed 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. Jon Barton converted his 33rd save in 38 tries.
New York took a 4-0 lead on John Blair's 32nd double of the season. The 2-run double, which Blair hit in the top of the seventh, left Los Angeles pitcher Darius Boatner visibly frustrated.
Blair called the win "a collective effort."
The Yankees raised their record to 58-89.
