The Reds grabbed a win, 5-4, at Great American Ball Park, overcoming a fine effort from Arizona pitcher Jesse Johnson. Johnson went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Steve Thornton got credit for the win, improving to 2-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Earning the save was Leon Estevez. He's now cashed in 1 of 1 save opportunities.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Jamie Schexnider came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Arizona pitcher Dan Rutledge, he hit a 2-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Cincinnati on top, 5-4.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Schexnider said after the game.

The Reds have an impressive 97-49 record.
