Braves Victors, 5-3, at New York
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets.
In the 5-3 Atlanta win over New York, the impact of Bill Lindberg was substantial. Lindberg, who finished 4th in the NL in runs with 110 in 2108, went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Doug Donaghey got the win, improving to 13-11. He held the Mets to 3 runs on 3 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 3.
Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Francisco Galdamez to capture the win. The first baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Braves ahead, 4-3. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.
Lindberg said his team "played with focus."
The loss makes New York 65-82.
