The Chicago Cubs bested the San Francisco Giants by a score of 10-7, with designated hitter Nick Criswell getting the main credit. On the day, Criswell was 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Cubs. Chicago starter Aaron Hosey was credited with the win after throwing 92 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 15-6. Chicago now has a record of 85-62 with the win.

The Cubs got an important contribution from second baseman Israel Perez, who in the bottom of the first punched a 0-1 changeup into left for a 2-run double. It was his 20th double of the season and put the Cubs ahead, 3-0.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Chicago manager Vin Calia.
