Texas Rangers starter Andy Nappi found his groove in his team's 6-4 win over the Oakland Athletics. Josh Payne notched his 26th save in 32 chances. Texas is now 73-75, Oakland 86-63.

Had Billy Thompson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Thompson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Rangers.

"We had situations where we should have got some runs in, but we didn't get the runs in," said losing manager Jon Pearson.
