Jesus Guzman did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the St. Louis Cardinals from losing, 8-5, to the Milwaukee Brewers at Busch Stadium. Guzman went 2 for 5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Milwaukee pitcher Jon Bartolone got the win, upping his record to 1-1. Trent Vaccaro got the loss. Chris Hellige earned save number 14 this season.

Milwaukee relied on the hitting of Jamie Saxton to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Brewers on top, 4-3. For the game, Saxton had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Leyland Thomas told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
