Steinhart Slugs Blue Jays to 5-2 Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Minnesota Twins, 5-2, in American League action at Rogers Centre. The game was highlighted by the performance of Toronto third baseman Dave Steinhart. The winning pitcher was Mike Williams. His record now stands at 11-9. The right-hander went 6.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 8 hits for the Blue Jays. Andres Sauri, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
The Blue Jays got a big at-bat from shortstop Kevin Harvey. For the game, Harvey went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 27th double of the season gave Toronto a 3-2 lead.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Harvey told the Toronto Daily.
Toronto is now 83-65, while Minnesota is 84-66.
