Blue Jays Suffer 8-4 Home Defeat
|
The Minnesota Twins topped the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-4, with center fielder D.J. Billiet playing a big role. Billiet was 3-4 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Twins in the win. The winning pitcher was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Joel Kull. He tossed 85 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 4 runs on 7 hits. The win for the Twins raised their record to 76-74.
Bret McBride was 1 for 5, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Minnesota. The 24-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Steve Makeever. It was his 155th hit of the season.
"We didn't pitch good, and when you don't pitch good, you lose," said Toronto manager Dan Silva.
