San Diego Beats San Francisco, 7-2
|
The San Francisco Giants got a superb performance from pitcher Chris Martin. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Diego. The Padres won the game, 7-2. Martin threw 5.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Robert Bartos snagged the win in relief. In 2.2 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on no hits. He's now 24-5 on the season. The Padres, at 91-57, have now won 5 straight.
San Diego used a clutch hit from Maxwell Judson to get the win. The first baseman drilled a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Padres ahead, 6-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a doozy.
"There were things that we could've improved upon," said Padres manager Tim Lentz, "but all in all, I'm satisfied with our performance."
